Retail & E-commerce
We build and modernise commerce platforms — storefronts, order management and the inventory integration that decides whether a click-and-collect promise can actually be kept.

01Overview
What we see in this sector
Most commerce problems that look like front-end problems are inventory problems. Overselling, failed collection orders and delayed dispatch usually trace to stock accuracy rather than to the checkout.
We work across both: storefront performance, where load time maps directly to conversion, and the order management and inventory layer behind it that determines whether the promise made at checkout is one the operation can meet.
Peak readiness is treated as an engineering exercise with a number attached. Load testing against a realistic profile, established well before the season, so capacity is a known quantity rather than an annual act of faith.
02Challenges
Where it usually hurts
Inventory accuracy
Stock positions that differ between store, warehouse and website, producing oversells and failed collections.
Peak-load risk
Platforms that have never been load tested against a realistic profile before the season that matters.
Slow storefronts
Page performance that costs conversion and search visibility at the same time.
Fragmented order management
Channels with separate order flows, so a single view of the customer does not exist.
03Our approach
What we put in place
Unified inventory
One authoritative stock position with reservation logic, so availability shown is availability that exists.
Composable storefronts
Server-rendered, edge-cached commerce front ends built for Core Web Vitals and organic search.
Order orchestration
One order flow across web, store and marketplace, with sourcing rules that reflect real fulfilment cost.
Peak engineering
Load profiling, autoscaling policy and a tested degradation plan ahead of the season.
05Technology
What we typically build with
- Frontend02
Next.js
Server rendering and routing for products where load time is a business metric.
React
The default for interfaces that need to stay maintainable past their first year.
- Backend01
Node.js
Shared language across the stack; strong fit for I/O-heavy services and BFFs.
- Cloud & DevOps01
AWS
Broadest managed-service catalogue; our default unless an estate dictates otherwise.
- Data03
PostgreSQL
The default relational store. Correct, extensible, and boring in the best way.
Redis
Caching, queues and rate limiting where latency budgets are tight.
Elasticsearch
Search and log analytics at volumes SQL cannot serve interactively.
